'THIS MUST BE THE PLACE I WAITED JUST TO LEAVE'

June 18, 2022 - July 8, 2022

2-3 FAIR was elated to present in conjunction with its grand opening, ‘This Must Be The Place I Waited Just To Leave,’ the first solo show from Los Angeles-based artist Jake Vanden Berge.

‘This Must Be The Place I Waited Just To Leave’ looks at the dichotomy of beauty and violence in suburban landscapes. The pieces touch on Vanden Berge’s upbringing, exploring childhood memories that live on, hanging in the air as visceral, transfixing hauntings.

Jake Vanden Berge is a self-taught artist from Whittier, California. Originally inspired by comic art, his work first took form at a young age, honing into mixed-format drawings. With the push of fellow LA-based artist Matt McCormick, who has taken Vanden Berge under his wing, he predominately now paints, exploring nostalgia, memory, and his utopic suburban visions.
